Free

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is usually known for its annual German Christmas market, but it also has many events throughout the year, including this summer one.

What happens?

Staying put in the city this summer? This annual event at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is designed to transport you to faraway locales — all without the stress of catching a flight.

Each year, the event makes use of the open-air seaside setting to create themed spaces inspired by different beachside regions of the world. There’s typically regional food, drinks, and decor, along with performances, light displays, or art installations.

Highlights 2025

This year’s theme is the Mediterranean region, referencing destinations such as Greece and Spain.

Expect a stylized space modeled on the Greek island of Santorini, complete with whitewashed buildings, herbs, lemon trees, and Mediterranean cuisine.

Meanwhile, Ibiza Terrace aims to offer a lounge-like area with palm trees, pink furniture, and DJ performances on select days. Dip your toes in the footbath and sip on something tasty at the waterfront café-bar.

Food

There will be a wide range of Mediterranean nibbles, from Greek moussaka and Moroccan tagine to Spanish paella. Beverages include coastal white wines, Sicilian lemon smoothies, and Turkish coffee.

Sustainability

To reduce plastic waste, some cutlery and packaging will be made from environmentally friendly materials.

Power for the venue will come from generators using GTL fuel, a cleaner alternative to diesel that cuts carbon emissions by about 8.5%.

Another initiative, the Fry to Fly Project, collects used cooking oil from the event and recycles it into sustainable aviation fuel, reducing emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.

On top of that, a portion of the event’s electricity will come from surplus solar energy generated at a home in Yokohama. This local renewable energy is expected to cover around 20% of the event’s needs and reduce emissions by roughly 440 tons annually.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
