Officially, it’s the ridiculously long named “LittleTwinStars × Shinjuku Southern Terrace Twinkle Color Christmas 2021”. This year is a collaboration between Shinjuku Southern Terrace and Sanrio—the company famous for Hello Kitty.
However, it’s unlikely Kitty chan will make an appearance as the lesser known characters Kiki and Rara will be the stars of the show.
Centerpiece of the light-up from November 29th until February 14th is a giant Christmas tree illuminated in “the Kiki and Rara colors of pink and blue”.
The overall design of the illumination is supposed to reflect a “fantastical Christmas party”, with mirror balls and soap bubbles (not like any Christmas party we’ve ever been to!)
The tree will be lit-up each day from 4:30pm each day and will be switched off on December 25th. The rest of the illuminations will continue until Valentine’s Day 2022.
