Spring Flowers at Showa Kinen Park

Tachikawa’s Showa Kinen Park has all kinds of flowers in bloom throughout spring, though it’s the tulips that tend to get the most attention.

It’s a great place to visit if you feel like getting out of the city and stretching your legs, but don’t want to travel too far. For the Nishi-Tachikawa Gate, use Nishi-Tachikawa Station (on the JR Ome Line), which is the closest station.

• Cherry blossoms (Somei Yoshino) Late March to early April in the Cherry Blossom Garden (桜の園)
• Rape blossoms (nanohana) Early to late April in the Flower Garden East (東花畑)
• Tulips Early to late April in the Serpentine Area (渓流広場)
• Nemophila Early April to mid-May on Herb Hill (ハーブの丘)
• “Bouquet Garden” (mixed blooms) Early to late May in the Flower Garden South (南花畑)
• Red poppies Early to late May on Flower Hill (花の丘)
