Dance teams descend on the Harajuku/Omotesando area in late August. The two days of the festival sees a huge dance contest between these teams taking over the area.
What happens?
The dance festival is on a massive scale and sees 6,000 performers in dance groups from throughout Japan competing for the top spot. There will be a parade in front of NHK (along the avenue within Yoyogi Park that links the park to Shibuya) on both days.
Schedule
The dancing will take place from 10 a.m to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The parade down Omotesando Avenue will be on Sunday from 11:10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
How to get there
There will be a parade, event stage, and stalls in the Event Square at Yoyogi Park, as well as performances at the Yoyogi Forest venue, Harajuku Station, Jingu Kaikan Stage (near Meiji Jingu Shrine), and a parade down Omotesando Avenue.
