Sushi Workshop For Beginners

Experience making sushi for the first time in a relaxed atmosphere in Tsukiji.

What to expect

You will be making 8 pieces of nigiri (raw fish on top of a ball of rice), temaki (hand-rolled sushi), and kappa-maki (cucumber roll). The toppings for the nigiri include tuna, salmon, scallops, shrimp, and salmon roe. You can also try freshly grounded wasabi mustard.

Tsukiji Sushi Friends’s instructors — the sushi friends — are graduates of a prestigious sushi school in Tokyo. The workshop will be conducted primarily in English, but there will also be support in Chinese and Tagalog.

How much?

The workshop costs ¥8,800 for adults and children over 7 years old to attend. You can choose one of two sessions:

• 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Get your tickets here (Deadline: Sep. 30, 23:59)
• 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Get your tickets here. (Deadline: Sep. 30, 23:59)

For 10 or more people coming in a group, the price is lowered to ¥8,000 per person.

What’s included:

*Alcoholic drinks are not allowed.

Notes and rules:

• Participants may enter the venue 15 minutes before the workshop starts.
• Participants may not take away whatever food items they made to prevent possible food contamination.
• Children younger than 7 years old may not participate.
• Participants are advised to be on time, to not miss the opportunity to make sushi.

How to get there

The workshop will be held in Earth Kitchen, an upscaled kitchen in Tsukiji, which is famous for being the largest market for seafood and delicacies. It is conveniently located in the heart of Tsukiji, walking distance from Ginza, the world-famous shopping town.
