Performing Arts Festival: Autumn Meteorite 2026 Tokyo

Dig deep into Japanese performing arts — including Noh, installation art, dance, media art, and music theater — at this international performing arts festival in Tokyo.

What happens?

From October 9 to November 3, 2026, Autumn Meteorite 2026 Tokyo will take place centered around the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in Ikebukuro.

Under the artistic direction of acclaimed playwright and director Toshiki Okada, the festival returns with a mission to create new works, promote international exchange, and develop the next generation of performing arts professionals.

Explore 13 performance programs from Japan and abroad, four non-performance programs including lectures and workshops, and two “Hello and Welcome (Attendee Support)” programs, which provide support throughout the festival.

The 2026 event invites visitors to experience the “here and now” of the Japanese and global performing arts scenes. With diverse, accessible programming, the festival encourages direct, personal connection and resonance, and invites discovery of various realities and new perspectives from which to reconsider the world we inhabit.

English supertitles will be provided on stage for all performances (except select shows).

In front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Welcome Galaxy offers a fun, interactive space for adults and kids alike.

How to get there

The festival mainly takes place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, which is a 2-minute walk from the West Exit of Ikebukuro Station on the JR, Tokyo Metro, Tobu Tojo, and Seibu Ikebukuro lines. There is a direct connection to the theater from Exit 2b.
