Tokyo Manhole Exhibition

11:00am – 7:00pm
Free

If you’ve seen them around Tokyo, you know that Tokyo manhole covers can have stunning art on them. But if you’ve ever wondered what goes into the design and planning, the Tokyo Manhole Exhibition is a must-visit.

What to expect

The Tokyo Manhole Exhibition is held to support the Tokyo Manhole Digital Rally — a virtual stamp rally where you can win prizes by scanning different manhole art around Tokyo.

There will be an exhibit and talk show showcasing the various designs around the city. See a map of notable manholes and their locations, as well as replicas of popular versions (for those who don’t want to travel).

For the real fanatics, there is a talk on Saturday with several guests and ‘manhole enthusiasts.’ The talk needs pre-reservation on the event website but is free to attend.

How to get there

The event will be held at Anime Tokyo Station in Ikebukuro. Walk for about 4 minutes from Ikebukuro Station to get there.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
