Amidst the sake and umeshu, it’s easy to forget Japan also has a reputation for good wine. Yamanashi Prefecture in particular is known as Japan’s ‘Wine Country’. Sample the best reds and whites at the Yamanashi Nouveau Wine Festival in Tokyo.
What to expect
To promote local vintners, Yamanashi’s local government is hosting a wine festival in Shiba Park, Tokyo. At the Yamanashi Nouveau Wine Festival, over 36 vineyards from the area will have 60 different bottles on show. Exchange your tasting tickets for samples and enjoy the fruits of the Japanese countryside.
Tickets
Entry to the festival itself is free. However, there is a tasting set priced at ¥3,000 that comes with 20 tickets if you buy in advance. It costs ¥3,500 on the door. Wines will be poured in 40 ml samples, with rarer vintages costing more tickets.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
