The Showa era is remembered fondly for its quirky designs and classical charm. For a short trip back to this nostalgic time, head to the Yokohama Showa Nabe Festival.
What happens?
The Yokohama Nabe Festival (Sakedokoro Nabegoya) is all about nabe, a traditional Japanese hotpot that’s the perfect winter warmer. The festival will have 18 different types of nabe, along with over 100 different sake for visitors to sample. Settle down around a heated table, and share with your foodie friends.
Highlights 2026
Last year’s festival was themed around the Showa era, as 2025 was the 100th anniversary of the period. However, this year has a new and exciting theme: utage or social gathering. In keeping with the theme, there will be live comedy shows and a karaoke competition. Also, for the first time, you’ll get to vote for your favorite hotpot.
