Head away from Tokyo to see in the new year. The Yokohama New Year’s Eve celebrations are a mix of lights and fireworks to end 2024 on a high.
Yokohama Sparkling Twilight
The fireworks display in Yokohama, which happens sporadically throughout the year, will have a show on New Year’s Eve at midnight, lasting for three minutes. Fireworks will be set off from Osanbashi Pier and Shinko Pier just after the iconic sound of a ships whistling in the bay.
Chinatown Countdown
Two spots in Yokohama’s Chinatown will also be hosting countdowns — Kuan Ti Miao Temple and Mazu Temple from 11:30 p.m. Prepare for all the fixings of a Chinese festival, including lanterns and lion dances.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
