Located within Yumenoshima (dream island) park, this archery field hosted both the Olympic and Paralympic archery events. Prozaic place names in Japanese are often a clue to a man-made origin for the place in question. Yumenoshima---like the similarly named Yumeshima in Osaka Bay---was a trash dump that has since been converted into a green space. Since no sane person would live there, the island is now used for recreational purposes. Now that the games are history, the park will continue to host archery events as well as being used for other sports activities. It is a 5-10 minute walk from Shin-kiba station on the Keiyo, Yurakucho or Rinkai lines.
