Given its location near Sagami Bay, it’s no surprise that Odawara is famous for its fresh fish. At Odawara Fish Center, you can sample and purchase some of the freshest seafood, experiencing firsthand why the city is renowned for it.
From fresh seafood BBQ to a wide selection of frozen fish, the Odawara Fish Center is the main shop along a street sometimes known as “Fish Street.” As the name suggests, the street is lined with seafood restaurants and a handful of smaller shops.
If you keep walking past the Fish Center, you’ll eventually reach the port and the main Fish Market. While it’s not as famous as Tokyo’s Tsukiji Market, every second Saturday of the month, early risers head there at dawn to buy fish caught just that morning. More information on that here.
How to get there
There are a few ways to get to Odawara Fish Center from Odawara Station. First, you can jump on the Hakonetozan Line for ¥160 to get to Hakoneitabashi Station. From there, it is a 14-minute walk to the center.
