The terrace on the 7th floor of the Shin-marunouchi Building provides one of the best views of central Tokyo. To the west, is Tokyo Station, while the view to the east is over the Tokyo Imperial Palace.
Entry to the terrace is free and open to the public. You can’t bring your own food and drink, but (at least during the temperate months) you can order from any of the restaurants on the 7th floor and they will bring your meal and drinks out to you. Among the restaurants in “Marumouchi House” (the name for the 7th floor) is the brilliantly named “So Tired”—an appropriate name for a district with lots of office workers burning the candle at both ends. There is also a store called “Beer Terrace” where you can buy beer and snacks to take out, but you can of course order beer, wine, coffee or food from any of the other restaurants.
The terrace is open until 11pm at night, so it’s a great spot to see all the big city lights of the skyscraper district around Tokyo Station.
