Haneda Airport is one of two international airports that serve Tokyo. The other airport serving Tokyo is Narita Airport. However, Haneda is by far more convenient, being located just 15 km from central Tokyo. It’s also consistently ranked higher than Narita on Skytrax’s Airport Awards each year.

Haneda Airport has three different terminals. Terminal 1 is a domestic only terminal. Terminal 2 is mostly domestic, but it has a few international flights. The newest terminal, Terminal 3, is only for international flights.

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is the original Haneda airport terminal and it definitely feels a bit older than the other two terminals. It’s the main terminal for Japan Airlines (JAL), Skymark Airlines, and StarFlyer.

Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is the newer of the domestic terminals, opening for passengers in December 2004. It’s located right next to Terminal 1, and services domestic All Nippon Airways (ANA), Sola Seed, and AirDO. Recently, ANA also started operating international flights out of Terminal 2.

Terminal 3 (International Terminal)

Terminal 3 only started operation in 2010, so it feels a lot nicer than the other two terminals. Apart from a few ANA flights that use Terminal 2, all other international flights use Terminal 3. Terminal 3 is also home to the new Haneda Airport Garden complex.

Traveling between terminals

Getting between the terminals is quite easy. Terminal 1 and 2 are so close that it’s a short walk. However, Terminal 3, is further away. Instead you can take eiher the Tokyo Monorail or the Keikyu Line to get between Terminals 1 or 2, and Terminal 3.
