k.yasu’s “Red Period”

Free

Yasushi Kondo is a popular illustrator, known by his nickname, k.yasu. His pop and light touch illustrations are as humorous as comical cartoons from New York and also go perfectly with Jiyugaoka where he lives. His illustrations are so popular in the town that many of them are seen on restaurants walls, wine bottles and beyond.

Gallery Jiyugaoka will hold his sixtieth birthday exhibition, “Red Period” (hitting the age of 60 is called Kanreki: a milestone traditionally celebrated with something red in Japan.)

Everyone is welcome to party with k.yasu for his Kanreki birthday from 3 – 6 pm on Sunday, 24th November. A traditional storytelling entertainment, Rakugo, will also be presented.

While the exhibition is open from 12pm – 7pm, please note that on the final day it will close at 4pm.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
