The Yanaka Matsuri is a quaint community festival that takes places at venues throughout the neighborhood of Yanaka.
What happens?
The festival includes dance and music performances, food, festival games, a bazaar, and a stamp rally. If you’ve ever wondered what a Hula troupe performing in a graveyard might be like, this is your chance to find out.
Venues include Ueno Sakuragi Atari (Yanaka Beer Hall and bakery), Yanaka Cemetery, and the Former Yoshida Sake Store. The main venue has moved to the more spacious Hatsune no Mori square in recent years, so there might be less happening in the cemetery this year.
