Like neighbouring Harumi, this area was reclaimed from Tokyo Bay in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Until the construction of the Oedo Line and Kachidoki Station, Kachidoki was a relatively out of the way place to get to. Since the opening up the area, a large number of tall residential towers has been constructed and Kachidoki is now a popular residential area.
