Togoshi

Togoshi is a neighborhood of Shinagawa ward, located to the south of Gotanda which is known for the Togoshi Ginza shopping street, although only the central part of the street is located within Togoshi. The western section is located in Hiratsuka while the eastern section is located in the neighborhood of Nishi-Shinagawa.

The name of the neighborhood is derived from it being the point at which travelers crossed into Edo (the former name of Tokyo).

Also of note in the neighborhood is Togoshi Hachiman Shrine, which dates from at least 1526. The shrine is located just to the south of Togoshi Ginza.

Stations serving the area include Togoshi Ginza on the Tokyu Ikegami Line, Togoshi on the Asakusa Line, and Togoshi Koen on the Tokyu Oimachi Line.
