Auckland Jeans Shop, established in 1951 by Hiroaki Tada’s father, quickly became a popular destination in the post-World War II era. Initially operating as a second-hand clothing store, the shop purchased used garments from Americans, refurbished them, and resold them to meet the high demand for clothing in post-war Japan.

The family business collaborated closely with Tsunemi, the company behind the renowned Edwin jeans brand. As Auckland Jeans gained popularity, it expanded to additional locations in Ōkubo and Ōtsuka.

Today, Auckland Jeans Shop stands as one of the few remaining locally-owned businesses on the shopping street, surrounded by chain stores. Despite rising rent prices and increased commercial presence in Nishiogi, Auckland Jeans continues to thrive.
