So we’ve all discovered Roppongi—the hub of Tokyo nightlife, brimming with bars, clubs, and 500 yen kebab shops. For a good night out, there’s nothing better; but at the same time, there’s nothing more threatening to our already dieting wallets. Many clubs in the area offer free entry for women, but the entry prices (excluding drinks) for men are painful and may potentially require fasting for days in return for one night out. So I managed to chance upon a gem one weekday night while searching for a good place to spend my twenty-first birthday. Nightlife is sort of dead during weekdays, but Jumanji 55 never fails to bring out the partiers of Tokyo 365 days a year. Located near TGI Fridays, the club is ALWAYS busy and offers the best happy hour deal in Tokyo. For 1000 yen, you have access to a 4 hour all-you-can-drink from 7-11pm in addition to seating to the VIP rooms. If you enter after 11, cover charge for men is 1000 yen for 2 drinks. The club certainly knows how to treat its ladies, giving women all-you-can-drink until morning on Sundays-Thursdays for the same 1000 yen. Mondays and Thursdays are special “ladies nights” and women can drink Champagne, Cassius, and Campari for completely no charge. Choosing to pay the 1000 yen just gives women access to the full drink menu. My only complaint about this club is its size since it tends to get a bit overcrowded (particularly on weekends) but they are opening an extension club soon on the first floor which will hopefully solve that problem. Jumanji has become my regular hangout now and I’m not the only one who’s evidently grown attached to the place seeing how much of the clientele are returning regulars. Classy? Perhaps not nearly as much as other clubs in the area like Feria, Vanity, or Muse, but for anyone who’s just looking for a good night out without worrying about paying rent next month, Jumanji55 is unbeatable.
