What happens?

Based on the French festival of the same name, the La Folle Journée in Tokyo also aims to spread the love of classical music across generations. While some concerts and workshops require admission, there will be free concerts and other activities as well. You can enjoy around 90 concerts from morning till night, so just turn up on the day and see what’s in store, or alternatively, book ahead for your favorites.

Schedule 2026

The theme for La Folle Journée in 2026 is “Les Fleuves — The Great River”, tracing how major rivers across Europe, Russia, the Americas, India and Africa have shaped culture and inspired music. The program highlights rivers such as the Danube, Vltava, Loire, Rhine, Volga, Euphrates, Jordan, Mississippi and Amazon, linking them to composers, folk traditions and genres from classical music to blues and jazz.
