This year’s Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festival will take place on August 2, celebrating its 47th anniversary.
What to expect
As one of the country’s biggest fireworks displays, the event sees over 20,000 fireworks shot from different angles across Makuhari Beach. Over 4,000 of those blasts will be sent over the ocean, creating shimmering reflections of various traditional, musical, and special effects fireworks that are up to 150 meters in diameter.
Tickets
There are eight viewing areas and 12 ticket types, including group and pair tickets and wheelchair-accessible tickets. Tickets range in price from ¥2,500 to ¥50,000, and some ticket types are already selling out. The festival area will also include a variety of food, drink, and souvenir stands.
If you’re making the trip to Chiba for the event, you can also couple the event with a stay at Hotel New Otani, which is promoting accommodation packages with fireworks views.

Schedule
The fireworks display will run from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on August 2. The Makuhari Seaside Park event area will be open from 4:30 p.m., and the Messe Parking Lot will be open from 4 p.m.
How to get there
The closest parking is at Messe Parking Lot, and space is limited, so it’s recommended to come by public transport. The closest station is Kaihin Makuhari Station on the JR Keiyō line, a roughly 20-minute walk to the event area.
