Summer Sonic is back again for 2025!
Set in an amazing location overlooking Tokyo Bay, Summer Sonic’s huge arena is host to a wide range of acts spanning every genre. The festival is held simultaneously in Tokyo (Chiba) and Osaka, with acts switching days — so both cities get (mostly) the same lineup.
A day before the headbanging begins, Sonicmania, an unofficial third day of Tokyo’s Summer Sonic, will also be held.
If you’d rather get your music fix in the cool(ish) mountain air, you might prefer Fuji Rock in late July, otherwise head to our article on summer music festivals to check your other options this summer.
Summer Sonic 2025 lineup
This year’s Summer Sonic includes headliners like Fall Out Boy, Alicia Keys, Yungblud, and Official Hige Dandism playing both cities. Other big names to look forward to are Camila Cabello, The Prodigy (Tokyo only), aespa (Tokyo only), J Balvin, Babymetal, Bloc Party, and many others.
This year’s Sonic Mania event in Tokyo will see performances from artists including French producer Gesaffelstein, The Prodigy, and Floating Points. Also happening again in Tokyo this year is Midnight Sonic, which will take place on Saturday night. Curated by M-Flo, the lineup includes performances by M-Flo, Teriyaki Boyz, Dongrosso, Tofu Beats, and more to be announced. Entry is free for all Summer Sonic ticket holders.
Getting tickets
For 2025, general sales started on May 24 at 10 a.m., and for Tokyo, it costs ¥20,000 for one day or ¥38,000 for both days. Pricier Platinum Tickets, which include access to exclusive viewing areas, lounges, cloakrooms, and shuttles, cost ¥34,000 and have sold out for Sunday but are still available for Saturday. Entry to Midnight Sonic is free for all Tokyo Summer Sonic ticket holders, or tickets are available separately for ¥8,000.
Osaka tickets are slightly cheaper than Tokyo: ¥18,000 for one day, ¥35,000 for two days, and ¥30,000 for a one-day Platinum Ticket.
Sonicmania tickets are still available and cost ¥16,000 for a standing ticket or ¥24,000 for a platinum ticket.
Morning ticket for first entry
If you are keen to be front and center to your favorite act, then consider buying a morning ticket on top of your general admission, to enter before the masses. The morning ticket costs ¥3,500 extra for each day and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are limited, so you’ll first be entered into a lottery to see if you can grab one. The lottery opens after the timetable is released in July.
Picnic boxes are also available inside Zozo Marine stadium for ¥35,000 per day for up to five people. They’re small box seats towards the front of the stadium seating, where you can sit and watch the bands or use as a meet-up area for you and your friends.
Resale tickets
Reselling tickets is prohibited on unauthorized websites — e.g., Viagogo — and you may not be allowed in the venue if you have such a ticket.
