The Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Chrysanthemum Exhibition has been held since 1914 and is known as Japan’s foremost chrysanthemum exhibition for both quality and quantity of flowers.
What happens?
At this exhibition, you’ll see just how many different ways the chrysanthemum can be cultivated and displayed.
Around 2,000 plants will be on show in a single hall. These range from ōgiku — giant blooms grown in trays — to delicate bonsai chrysanthemums that look like miniature trees. You’ll also find Edogiku, varieties developed in Edo (now Tokyo), and cascading kengai-style plants where flowers spill down like waterfalls.
Additionally, seedlings will be sold and seminars conducted on cultivation methods in order to promote chrysanthemums and improve cultivation techniques.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
