Opened in 1989, the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences is an aviation museum located at the southern end of the Narita International Airport runway.
Though slightly outdated, the museum will appeal to aviation enthusiasts. It features both indoor and outdoor exhibits, including a number of light aircraft, helicopters and the nose of a Boeing 747.
The observation area offers a relatively close-up view of the planes taking off and landing at the nearby international airport.
There is also a flight simulation experience you can take part in, but note that this costs extra on top of the admission ticket.
The restaurant located within the museum offers meals inspired by airline food — if you’re into that.
How to get there
From Narita Airport Terminal 1 or 2-3, there is a bus that will drop you right in front of the museum. It takes 6 or 10 minutes respectively.
However, as this bus is relatively infrequent and the schedule varies depending on the day, we strongly recommend checking the specific schedule on the day you plan to go.
