Ok, ok…so it’s not technically the weekend, but we definitely want to give a shout out to Ueno Zoo. This Friday, March 20th is FREE admission day to mark the zoo’s 133rd anniversary (damn, she’s old). While you’re in the Ueno Park area, you might want to have a peak around and see if any sneaky sakura have started to bloom before their forecasted dates.

Also starting on Friday and continuing until Sunday, March 22nd is Art Fair Tokyo. Although it’s not the most cheapo option (2,000 yen entry), it does allow you see some modern to priceless works of art hailing from art galleries all across the country.

This weekend will also host Anime Japan for all you anime and manga fiends. This is Japan’s biggest event of the sort with stage events, cosplay, exclusive merchandise, screenings, seminars and an auction. This event is so fan-tastic*, it made our “5 events not to miss this spring” list.
