Whether you want an adrenaline rush or the stress relief that comes from seeing a cute animals, Tokyo has some great outdoor options.
Themeparks
There may be one theme park that takes center stage (or should we say two?) when it comes to Tokyo, but we promise there are plenty more to see. There’s no doubt about it, Tokyo Disney Land and Sea are a great experience and we have the best guide on discount tickets to get you in there, not to mention getting there from Narita or Haneda, but why not try some alternatives? We’ve got a rundown of the best options from Sanrio-themed to VR amusement as well as the lowdown on Fuji Q, the best bet for thrill-seekers who enjoy a view. The latest addition to Tokyo’s theme park scene is of course the long-awaited Studio Ghibli Park, but there’s also the Harry Potter Studio Tour if you can’t make it down to Universal Studios.
Zoos
Tokyo may have just returned its famous Panda Xiang Xiang but you can still visit her parents and other inhabitants of Ueno Zoo and its animal-themed institutions. If you fancy seeing animals in a more animal-friendly environment, check out our guide to ethical animal cafes.
