Comedy nights are aplenty this week, so take your pick of the bunch for some guaranteed laughs. Japan’s biggest Philippines festival is also on, along side a line-up of illumination and art events.
Metronomy Japan Tour
UK band Metronomy is bringing their electro-pop sound to the Tokyo music scene for one night only. Jam out at Ebisu’s Liquidroom.

Good Heavens Comedy Club
A regular Tokyo comedy event at Good Heavens British Bar in the trendy Shimokitazawa area. This week’s show is called ‘What You See Is What You Get’ so expect a mystery line up with guaranteed laughs.

Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School Tokyo
With a drink in one hand and a pencil in the other, you can spend an evening sketching some of Tokyo’s most interesting models.

Doburoku Matsuri
The Doburoku Matsuri is an annual festival celebrating home-brewed sake. Taking place at Koami Shrine, visitors will be offered free sake and can enjoy Shinto performances in the afternoon.
Drunk Poets See God
Drunk Poets See God is a spoken-word night that features a different theme each time with a mix of performance styles.

Museum of Modern Art – Free Admission Day
The MOMAT is free this Sunday. The museum houses mainly Japanese works of the 20th century including a number deemed ‘Important Cultural Properties’ or masterpieces.
Setagaya Koto Cafe Workshop and Concert
Try your hand at the koto, a traditional Japanese stringed instrument, at this one-hour workshop led by internationally renowned koto players Michiyo Yagi and Hiroko Takahashi. Following the workshop is a 30-minute performance, accompanied by a cup of green tea.

The famously beautiful Edo-period gardens of Rikugien will be illuminated until December 12th from sunset to 9 pm daily. The gardens are known as one of the best spots for autumn foliage viewing, so it’s a perfect for an evening stroll.

Red Brick Warehouse Christmas Market
Just south of the city is a famous Christmas market in Yokohama. Against a backdrop of the area’s beautiful red-brick warehouses, the market features an ice skating rink, stalls and an impressive tree display.
