Tokyo events for Monday, March 25 to Sunday, March 31, 2024.

The latest cherry blossom forecast predicts that this week is full bloom (editor’s note: this seems to be delayed), so it’s the best time to take advantage of the ongoing sakura festivals.

Cherry blossoms aren’t the only flower to see at the start of spring; tulips are also taking a stand.

Suggested Activity
Become a Samurai in Tokyo
Who doesn't want to swing a sword and emulate the warriors of feudal Japan? Experience being a samurai for yourself in one of the coolest activities in Tokyo. During your intimate lesson, you’ll get to dress up in a samurai outfit and train with a traditional katana (single-edged samurai sword)!

Downtown Drinks #46: Cherry Blossom Chats

This event is meant for everyone — from readers to travelers to mysterious strangers. Whether you’re looking to network, meet new people, or just get outside into the open air.
Once you’ve arrived, pick up a Tokyo Cheapo sticker, slap it on your shirt, and join in the fun.

Shibuya Sakura Stage Cherry Blossom Festival

Come and celebrate cherry blossom season in the heart of the city.
From March 10 to April 10, all the cherry blossom trees along Sakura Street will be illuminated with a gorgeous pink color and pink lanterns will glow. A picture-perfect scene.

Cherry Blossom Planetarium Show

See the cherry blossoms like never before at planetariums around Tokyo.
For a limited time, all five of the planetariums operated by Konica Minolta will be playing a special cherry blossom-themed video before the main show. Visitors will be surrounded by beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom and are invited to take photos.

Hibiya Blossom

Artwork will be showcased in the area — all of which are related to this year’s theme “Art & Flowers.” The main exhibition, which will be in Hibiya Step Plaza, is called “Blossom Garden ~ Plant Sculpture”. This sustainable flower dome is decorated with artificial flowers made out of recycled plastic bottles.

Ukima Park Cherry Blossom and Tulip Illumination

You don’t need to travel outside of Tokyo to grab a little slice of the Netherlands. You can see rows upon rows of tulips with a windmill backdrop right in Ukima Park. There will be more than 20,000 tulips, as well as cherry blossoms, lit up during the Flower and Light Movement: Ukima Park and Tulips event

Sakura Tulip Festival

The annual Sakura Tulip Festival is the largest celebration of the tulip in the Kanto area. There are 80 varieties represented among the over half a million flowers in bloom at Sakura Furusato Square in Chiba. In addition to the multi-colored array of tulips, there will be food trucks and stalls, a tulip market, and a photo contest.

Cherry Blossoms at teamLab Planets Tokyo

From March 1 to April 30, art collective teamLab’s body-immersive museum teamLab Planets Tokyo will transform its artworks into a digital cherry blossom paradise. For a limited time only, you can sit under raining sakura in “Floating in the Falling Universe of Flowers” and wade through cherry blossom petals in “Drawing on the Water Surface Created by the Dance of Koi and People – Infinity”.

Tokyo Tower 333 Carp Streamers

Tokyo Tower’s annual koinobori (carp, or koi fish, streamers) event sees over three hundred fishes flapping in the wind for Children’s Day. Exactly 333 colorful carp streamers will be hung around the iconic Tokyo Tower, making for vivid and eye-catching photos. You may ask, Why 333? That’s because the tower is exactly 333 meters high, and all good things come in threes.

Spring Flowers at Showa Kinen Park

Tachikawa’s Showa Kinen Park has all kinds of flowers in bloom throughout spring, though it’s the tulips that tend to get the most attention. It’s a great place to visit if you feel like getting out of the city and stretching your legs, but don’t want to travel too far.
